Roaming like desert animals, we understand it’s enough to find a few leaves or drops to slip past another day is a film screening program featuring artworks selected by Los Angeles-based artist Samar Al Summary, whose exhibition, Excavating the Sky, is currently on view in ICA LA’s Project Room. The program brings together work by artists from across the Middle East and North Africa who, like Al Summary, embrace the medium of film as a form of documentation, resistance, remembering, and imagination and a tool by which to cross the boundaries and borders that might otherwise keep us apart.
Films will be screened throughout the day from 11am to 5pm. Starting at 6pm, the full program will be presented, followed by a conversation between Al Summary and ICA LA Senior Curator, Amanda Sroka.
RSVP’s are recommended, but not required for the 11am – 5pm looped screening.
Please note that seating is limited for 6pm’s screening of the full program, and conversation. Doors open thirty minutes prior to the listed showtime. Your RSVP will not guarantee you a seat. Seating is first-come, first-served.
